Ships Ahoy

Ships Ahoy

When its eighty-five degrees outside and you have nothing to wear… scratch that… if you are smart, you will go online to the Cabi website and purchase this fabulous nautical style dress that is easy, breezy, and comfy! The original dress comes with a blue shoelace that I removed to leave the neckline more exposed.

Many years ago, my acting coach advised me to never wear anything that does not expose the collarbone and décolotage area. Her philosophy was that on a shorter body type an open décolatage area elongates the neck. While I have often succumbed to fashion trends, I have attempted to adhere to her philosophy.

Once I removed the lace-up feature of this dress, the neckline was immediately more flattering and elongated the neck. However, without the lace-up feature, I needed to find an accessory that would maintain the nautical theme. This J. Crew bracelet added a pop of yellow which maintained a nautical theme and tied in my vintage Celine bag. White shoes seemed the natural choice and I have worn these over and over again since purchasing them on sale last month. The chunky heel results in both comfort and stability. Use this look to guide you to smooth sailing on a hot summer day!

  • Lesley I just don’t know how you do it!!!
I know EXACTLY what you mean about the difficulties of short torso syndrome lol! For some of us, it’s a curse really. But you always look so great! Maybe one of these days you could post a fashion blog entry devoted to "taking on" the short torso issue.
I just have to tell you that once a week after our workout at the JCC a group of us (let’s just say that, like you, we are women of a certain age) meet at the Starbucks and just pour over the latest fabulesley blog post. You’ll think this is funny, but each week one of us takes a turn trying out your latest recipe. YUM YUM!!!
Keep up the great work that you do!
