One of the silver linings of my Dad's accident has been to spend so much time with my sister, Janet, who resides in Vancouver, but has been traveling back and forth to California. She and I decided to embark on several photo shoots over the past few weeks, taking advantage of the incredible backdrops provided by this fabulous little oasis called Palm Springs! Janet chose this purple wall at The Saguaro Hotel, for the outfit. As an artist and interior designer, she has never led me astray. I thought a yellow or lime green wall would allow for the colors to pop, but as she showed me, this color was the right shade of purple to act quietly in cohesion with the outfit, rather than fight against it. The pink and navy combo of this outfit were brought to a more serene and cool life against the purple. This beautiful flowy blouse with its long pink bow is airy and elegant on its own; but when topped with a fitted blazer, it takes on an entirely new life. I actually like the way the tail of the blouse peeks out from under the jacket showing off its flattering shape. I love a jean or pant with a side stripe. It is fun as well as flattering. However, because I am a tad on the shorter side, I am always inclined to wear a cropped pant with a heel, as it extends my leg. Don't get me wrong, there are a plethora of flats in my shoe closet, and I do wear them with cropped jeans, but for this look, I felt a 2 1/2 inch chunky heel was the way to go. Combining colors is an art in and of itself. Lucky for me, I am learning with a master.
