Holiday Brisket


If you're looking for a fabulous brisket recipe this one's for you! Thanks to my friend Sheila for sharing her secret recipe. 


5 lb brisket
2 onions
4 carrots
4 parsnips
4 celery stalks
4-6 cloves of fresh garlic
1 package of instant onion soup
1 cup red wine
Optional- 2 sweet or white potatoes

Preset oven to 350
Peel and clean vegetables, chop into 3 inch pieces
Slice onion and place on bottom of pan
Brown the brisket (I char it on both sides on the grill)
Place brisket on top of onions and scatter with veggies
Spread dry onion soup mix across top of brisket
Pour red cup of wine around brisket
Lightly squirt ketchup across the top of brisket (not too heavy)
Cover with foil tightly
Cook 2-3 hours
Remove from oven, let cool to room temp, slice, and place in pan you want to reheat in

Keep in refrigerator until ready to use or you may freeze (without the veggies)
