Grilled London Broil

“London Broil” does not really sound all that exciting or sophisticated. However, once marinaded and grilled on the barbeque, it takes on a new flavor. Here is a recipe for this beef entrée that has been a part of our family menu for almost 20 years. It is easy and delicious, and the accompanying sauce gives it a unique twist.

 

Recipe

Marinade
1 tablespoon minced garlic
3 tablespoons cilantro
1/3 cup olive oil
¾ cup red wine
½ cup soy sauce

Combine above ingredients. Pour over 4- 5 pound London Broil and marinade overnight in a 9×13 rectangular pyrex glass dish.

Bring beef to room temperature before grilling. Remove beef from marinade, (discard marinade),  and  grill on an oiled rack set 5-6 inches from glowing coals, approximately 10 minutes per side for medium rare or long enough to achieve desired doneness.

 

Sauce

½ cup honey
3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoon Dijon mustard
½ cup fresh lime juice
1 ½ tablespoons minced garlic
1 teaspoon ground cumin
½ teaspoon allspice
¼ cup fresh cilantro

Mix ingredients and serve with the grilled beef.
